Play-by-play coverage for Saturday

Unlimited Lights Final
It was an amazing sight as eight Unlimited Lights powered down to the start/finish line for the start.  The UL-38 Security Race Products and the UL-110 Freddie's Club presents Miss CompAir pushed forward to the early lead over the UL-72 Budweiser/Pocket Mechanic.  It was a close start and there was concern that the two leaders may have jumped, but by the second lap we had heard it was a clean start.

Regrettably, the UL-38 Security Race Products was assessed a one lap penalty for lane encroachment and went from the front of the pack to the back.

As this was all sorting itself out, the UL-72 found a burst of speed and powered to the lead passing both the UL-38 and the UL-110.  This change established the order that would hold through the final.

Your order of finish:
1st - UL-72 Budweiser/Pocket Mechanic
2nd - UL-110 Miss CompAir presents Freddie's Club Casinos
3rd - UL-3 Broadmoor RV
4th - UL-17 Johnsonville Brats presents Ted's Red Apple Market
5th - UL-20 Overtime
6th - UL-15 Graham Trucking
7th - UL-136 Sanders
8th - UL-38 Security Race Products

1:46 PM update

Sickelsteel Crane Unlimited Lights Heat 2B
It looked as if Phil Bononcini and the UL-72 Budweiser/Pocket Mechanic had this one wrapped up from the start.  That turned out to be anything but the case as Doug Brow and the UL-3 Miss Broadmoor RV screamed forward into striking distance for the lead.  At about the half-way point in the race, both the UL-3 and the UL-17 Johnsonville Brats presents Ted's Red Apple Markets had closed with the UL-72 and we had the making of a solid race for first.  The UL-17 was a bit back from the two leaders, but we enjoyed quite a sight as all three hulls came through the turns close to each other.  In the end, the UL-72 brought home its second heat victory of the day.

Your order of finish:
1st: UL-72 Budweiser/Pocket Mechanic
2nd:  UL-3 Broadmoor RV
3rd: UL-17 Johnsonville Brats presents Ted's Red Apple Market
4th: UL-20 Overtime
DNF:  UL-15 Graham Trucking

1:06 PM update

Sickelsteel Crane Unlimited Lights Heat 2A
It was a good start as the UL-38 Security Race Products jumped out to an early lead with the UL-110 Miss CompAir presents Freddie's Club Casinos just off his hip in second.  The UL-136 Sanders Racing and the UL-21 LizardTech trailed the leaders.  Exiting the first turn on the second lap, the UL-21 went down and was not able to restart.  From there the UL-110 remained in striking range of the UL-38, but was unable to contest the lead.  A last minute UL-110 switch to the inside lane offered a challenge, but was not enough to change the order of finish.

Your order of finish:
1st - UL-38 Security Race Products
2nd - UL-110 Miss CompAir presents Freddie's Club
3rd - UL-136 Sanders Racing
DNF - UL-21 Lizard Tech
DNS - UL-23 Index Home Systems

11:33 AM update

Graham Trucking Unlimited Lights Heat 1B
At the start the UL-72 Budweiser/Pocket Mechanic and the UL-38 Security Race Products pulled ahead but remained an early duel.  This race between these two hulls would hold throughout the heat with the UL-38 making up ground on the straight-aways and the UL-72 holding the lead with solid lane one turns.

Early in the race Randy Haas in the UL-110 Miss CompAir presents Freddie's Club dueled for third with Nick Badolato in the UL-21 Lizard Tech.  As they raced the pirate flags of the Seafair Pirates flapped from the back of the UL-21.  A fun sight on the course.  Given a bit time, the UL-110 pulled away from the UL-21 and established a solid hold on third.

In the end, the UL-72 Budweiser/Pocket Mechanic took the win in Heat 1B.

Your order of finish:
1st - UL-72 Budweiser/Pocket Mechanic
2nd - UL-38 Security Race Products
3rd - UL-110 Miss CompAir presents Freddie's Club
4th - UL-21 Lizard Tech
DNS - UL-23 Index Home Systems

The UL-23 Index Home Systems team was still firming itself up for competition at the start of this heat.  The team lost an engine last weekend and built a new one over the last few days.  They brought the engine into the pits last night and got it into the hull this morning.  With a bit more work, we should see the UL-23 in competition later today.

10:58 AM update

In Graham Trucking Unlimited Lights Heat 1B we will have the UL-38 Security Race Products, UL-72 Budweiser/Pocket Mechanic, the UL-21 LizardTech, UL-110 Miss CompAir presents Freddie's Club and the UL-23 Index Home Systems.

10:46 AM update

Graham Trucking Unlimited Lights Heat 1A
At the start the UL-17 Johnsonville Brats presents Ted's Red Apple Markets jumped to the early lead in the first lap with the UL-3 Miss Broadmoor RV off the lead.  Following the two leaders was a tight battle for third between the UL-136 Sanders Racing, UL-15 Graham Trucking and UL-20 Overtime.

On the second lap, Doug Brow (UL-3) closed with the leader (Rick Bridgeman and the UL-17) and took over the lead.  Both were jumping across the water as they crossed the start/finish line and kept up a fierce battle into the turn.  As the two boats exited the turn the battle was decided.  Doug Brow's UL-3 picked up a buoy and lost a lap as it remained with the boat as she rounded the course.

At the finish the UL-20 and the UL-15 were deck-to-deck with the UL-20 Overtime pulling ahead at the line.

Your order of finish:
1st - UL-17 Johnsonville Brats presents Ted's Red Apple Markets
